"The Lightning Speed Internet Sales Success Course" LESSON #19 © 1997 B.S.A. / F.M. http://web.idirect.com/~bsa/index.htm _______________________________ THE TOPIC: Where to get FREE videos and FREE reports that you can do anything you want with - even make your own CD-ROM! THE ANSWER: The government hires hundreds of people to produce this stuff, which is in the public domain. Also in the public domain you will find "classic" literature (old books, in other words) and more by non-government types. Go to www.altavista.digital.com and do a search for ... "free government publications" "free videos" "public domain" and so on ... Here's just one site found with a Web search: http://adhere.on.ca/free/ This site points you in the direction of free videos, audios, software etc. At the www.ssa.gov site, I found out about (and ordered) 6 FREE videos and turned them into a CD-ROM, along with dozens of Adobe Acrobat files. All of the material created by that government agency (Social Security) is public domain. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. You can take the text they write, the Adobe Acrobat files they create, the web graphics they create, and so on! How much is in the public domain? Over 80,000 books, 1000's of songs, computer software, art, images, clipart, films, and more! Where do you begin your search? Try these: a) http://www.northcoast.com/savetz/pd/pd.html b) http://brutus.bright.net - general material c) http://www/pdimages.com or phone 202 986 2463 d) http://www.cs.cmu.edu/web/books.html - Books only e) http://www.samizdat.com - books and reports f) http://www.spies.com g) http://www-cs.indiana.edu/metastuff/bookfaq.html h) http://www.sba.gov - Small Business Administration You may already know that NASA's videos and images are public domain material - which is why you see so many companies using space shuttle video and images, moon shots etc. for their own company's products and sales materials. Since NASA is a government and public-funded agency, its artistic output is not copyrighted. Besides public domain information, free content can be found through mutually beneficial arrangements with other infor- mation producers, who can also be found on the Internet, by using the Newsgroup, Listserv and other techniques described in other lessons. One last word, though - work on something that INTERESTS you, so that if a project doesn't work, at least you have a hobby-ist enjoyment of it and can continue on in business with a positive attitude.
